THE EMERALD COAST (1925) Saint-Malo to Newfoundland The very word Newfoundland evokes the cod fishermen's long voyages to the Grand Banks, made familiar in Pierre LOTI's story "Pêcheurs d'lslande". Life was hard on these sailing cod-fischers out of Fecamp, Saint-Malo and Paimpol. The model shown is one of the last sailing cod-fishing boats rigged as a three-masted schooner. It can be supplied with sails furled or partly set allowing the fascinating detail of the rigging to be appreciated.
